The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has strongly refuted recent reports suggesting that Maryam Nawaz, the party’s designated candidate for the Chief Minister position in Punjab, is receiving a chief minister-level security protocol.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb categorically dismissed the claims, asserting that the news of heightened security measures for Maryam Nawaz is entirely false.
Earlier, a report alleged that Maryam Nawaz was being provided with elaborate security, including ‘two bulletproof cars, four police squad vehicles, a traffic wardens’ pilot, and one signal jammer vehicle.’
The report further indicated that the entire security squad had already reached Maryam Nawaz’s residence, and she had purportedly received briefings from the province’s chief secretary and inspector general.

Despite Nawaz Sharif reportedly stepping back from the race for prime minister in favor of his younger brother, Shehbaz Sharif, it has been affirmed that Maryam Nawaz will be the PML-N’s candidate for the Chief Minister’s position in Punjab—a role both Nawaz and Shehbaz have previously held.
The PML-N, securing 138 seats in the Punjab assembly, has seen its numerical strength increase with the addition of independently-elected candidates. As political dynamics unfold, preparations and negotiations are underway for the formalization of leadership positions in Punjab, adding intrigue to the evolving political landscape.
