Syed Qalb Abbas Shah, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Rawalpindi, has recently joined the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) just days ahead of the upcoming elections.
Raja Pervez Ashraf, the PPP candidate and former speaker of the National Assembly, warmly welcomed Shah’s decision to support him. Ashraf expressed optimism, stating that Shah’s affiliation would positively impact the PPP.
In a meeting with a PML-N leader, Raja Pervez Ashraf encouraged the residents of Gujar Khan to vote for the PPP in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the potential for development and prosperity in the region. Ashraf highlighted the contributions made by the PPP to the people of Gujar Khan, asserting that no other party has matched these efforts.
Raja Pervez Ashraf is contesting the election from NA-52 Gujra Khan on the PPP ticket, while his son, Khurram Pervez Raja, is running from PP-8. The electoral competition includes Muhammad Javed Ikhlas from PML-N.
As the political landscape becomes more intense, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has consistently emphasized during the election campaign that the upcoming general elections will witness a formidable contest between the PPP and PML-N, referencing the significant political rivalry following PTI’s loss of the bat symbol.
