Alliance
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) initiated efforts on Wednesday to persuade Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join their alliance.
A delegation comprising key figures from PML-N and PPP visited Rehman’s residence in Islamabad for discussions. The delegation included prominent leaders such as Khursheed Shah, Yusuf Raza Gilani, Naveed Qamar, Saad Rafique, Ayaz Sadiq, and Ahsan Iqbal.
The move comes as political parties in Pakistan engage in strategic alignments and discussions to strengthen opposition unity.
Meanwhile, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his concerns about various issues, including the alleged intervention of institutions and the handing over of matters, including the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He emphasized the control exercised by certain entities and questioned the effectiveness of elections in the current scenario. During an event in Peshawar, Rehman stated, “The establishment has kept all the matters under its control.
The election campaign decides who is going to win or lose the elections.” He also highlighted the burial of the slogan related to the May 9 vandalism and expressed skepticism about participating in the electoral process.
Rehman declared that his party would not participate in any form of voting, and he differentiated between those within the current system causing uproar and those outside the system speaking boldly.
The ongoing discussions and political maneuvers reflect the evolving dynamics in Pakistani politics as parties navigate alliances and strategies ahead of upcoming elections.
