The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved an increase in MBBS seats at Punjab’s government medical colleges. The decision was announced on Tuesday.
According to officials, the council approved 475 additional MBBS seats across public medical institutions. The move aims to expand admission opportunities for aspiring medical students.
Previously, Punjab’s government medical colleges offered 3,476 MBBS seats. However, the latest approval has increased the total number to 3,951 seats.

The increase marks a significant expansion in undergraduate medical education across the province. Consequently, more students will have the opportunity to secure admission to public medical colleges.
Officials expect the additional seats to help meet the growing demand for medical education. The decision also supports efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare workforce.
