ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain, wind and thundershowers across Pakistan from August 17 to 21.
According to the PMD, monsoon currents are currently affecting northern regions and will continue during the coming days.
Meanwhile, a westerly wave will enter upper Pakistan from August 17, creating favourable conditions for widespread rainfall.
Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will receive scattered rain, thunderstorms and isolated heavy falls during the forecast period.
Rain is also expected across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha and several other Punjab districts.
Southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa districts will receive rainfall mainly on August 20 and 21.
Gilgit-Baltistan is also likely to experience rain, wind and thunderstorms between August 18 and 21.
Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh and Balochistan will remain hot and humid.
However, Musakhel, Barkhan, Zhob, Kalat and Khuzdar may receive rain and thunderstorms from August 17 to 20.
Flooding and Landslide Risks
The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall could trigger urban flooding in several low-lying areas from August 17 to 20.
The affected areas include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore.
Furthermore, authorities warned of landslides across mountainous areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir.
Officials advised tourists and travellers to remain cautious while visiting vulnerable areas during the unsettled weather.
Farmers should also adjust agricultural activities according to the forecast and protect livestock from adverse weather conditions.
