ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to the development of southern Punjab, unveiling plans for a cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan and a new university in Rajanpur.
Addressing a public gathering in DG Khan, he emphasized Pakistanโs path to progress, highlighting an improving economy and his governmentโs dedication to national development.
Economic Improvements Under Shehbaz Sharif’s Leadership
Sharif underscored key economic achievements during his tenure, stating:
- Inflation has dropped from 40% to 4%.
- The policy rate has been reduced from 22% to 12%.
- The economy is stabilizing and moving toward growth.
He credited Nawaz Sharifโs leadership for Punjabโs rapid development and praised Maryam Nawazโs contributions to public service and welfare initiatives across the province.
Support for Farmers and Students
The Prime Minister announced the continuation of major initiatives, including the distribution of Kisan Cards to support farmers and the provision of laptops for students in Punjab. He stressed the government’s focus on agriculture and industrial growth to strengthen the economy.
Commitment to South Punjab
Shehbaz Sharif assured the people of southern Punjab that they would not be left behind in national progress. He promised an expanded healthcare network across Punjab, ensuring improved medical access for all.
Pakistanโs Global Standing and Political Challenges
On foreign policy and domestic politics, Sharif reiterated his unwavering commitment to Pakistanโs interests. He accused foreign powers of attempting to destabilize the country but expressed confidence in Pakistanโs resilience.
“We will never forget the sacrifices of our armed forces,” he asserted.
He also criticized political opponents, dismissing accusations against him and condemning disruptive protests that hinder national progress. “Conspiracies to undermine Pakistan are being hatched day and night,” he lamented.
Vision for the Future
PM Shehbaz Sharif vowed to make Pakistan a global success, declaring, โIf we do not surpass India in development, I will change my name from Shehbaz Sharif!โ He reassured the nation that his government remains committed to strengthening Pakistanโs economy, industry, and agriculture.
