Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart for the United States tomorrow on an official visit to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The high-level visit will include bilateral meetings, multilateral engagements, and Pakistan’s strong diplomatic push on global issues including Kashmir, Palestine, and climate change.
Shehbaz to Deliver UNGA Address, Highlight Key Global Concerns
According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as other senior cabinet members. During the visit, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly, where he will highlight pressing international issues with a focus on:

In addition to his UNGA speech, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with global leaders and senior UN officials to discuss matters of mutual interest and enhance diplomatic cooperation.
Meeting with President Trump and Islamic Leaders on Peace and Security
A key highlight of the visit will be a joint meeting between elected leaders of Islamic countries and U.S. President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will join this high-level dialogue, which is expected to focus on global and regional peace, security, and religious harmony.
Shehbaz will also participate in various high-level UN events, including sessions on climate change, the Global Development Initiative, and the UN Security Council. These engagements aim to amplify Pakistan’s voice on the international stage, especially on issues concerning the Muslim world and global south.
The Prime Minister is expected to emphasise Pakistan’s role in peacebuilding efforts, its contributions to the UN, and the need for just solutions to long-standing conflicts.
