Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached London on Thursday for a brief stopover before travelling to New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
The prime minister is scheduled to leave for the United States on Saturday.
He will attend the high-level segment of the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York.
According to the Foreign Office, Shehbaz Sharif will address the UN General Assembly on September 25.
He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders.
The prime minister will participate in several high-level events on the sidelines of the UN session.
He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and senior government officials.
The Foreign Office said Shehbaz Sharif will present Pakistan’s position on regional and global developments.
He will also highlight Pakistan’s key priorities during the UNGA session.
The 81st UN General Assembly is being held under the theme, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
The general debate is scheduled to continue from September 22 to 26, with a final sitting on September 28.
The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran is expected to feature prominently in discussions among world leaders.
Key issues are likely to include regional security, the Strait of Hormuz and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to highlight Pakistan’s efforts to support a peaceful resolution to the US-Iran conflict.
The prime minister is expected to return to Pakistan around September 27 or 28. He may make another short stopover in London during his return journey.
