ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Saudi Arabia on Monday to attend the Ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII9) conference in Riyadh. He is visiting at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The delegation includes Ishaq Dar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Tariq Fatemi, and Bilal bin Saqib. They will represent Pakistan at the global investment forum.
Global Leaders Discuss Growth Initiatives
The FII9 conference gathers investors, policymakers, and innovators from around the world. The theme focuses on “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth.” Discussions will explore global challenges, innovation, sustainability, and shifting geopolitical trends. The Pakistani delegation aims to highlight Pakistan’s economic strengths and future potential. Moreover, officials will promote investment opportunities in several key sectors.
Focus on Trade and Strategic Cooperation
PM Shehbaz will hold important meetings with Saudi leadership during his stay. He plans to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and human resource development. The talks will also cover regional peace and global matters of shared interest. Additionally, he will interact with leaders from participating nations and international organisations. These engagements will push Pakistan’s efforts to expand partnerships in technology and sustainable development.
Strengthening a Strong Partnership
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to advance a deep and historic relationship. Recently, both nations signed a major defence pact during PM Shehbaz’s visit to Riyadh on September 18. Under this pact, any attack on one state will be considered an attack on both. Therefore, the relationship now extends beyond traditional areas of cooperation.
