MAKKAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir performed Umrah on Friday during their three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia. The visit is taking place at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. Moreover, the Pakistani delegation was granted the honour of a special visit to the Holy Kaaba during their stay in Makkah.
After performing Umrah, Prime Minister Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir and other delegation members offered prayers for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. They also prayed for the well-being of the nation, the safety of the Muslim Ummah and lasting regional and global peace.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Jeddah on Thursday, where senior Saudi officials welcomed him. The reception included Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah, Saudi Minister of Agriculture, Water and Environment Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq and other diplomatic officials.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, expanding strategic cooperation and reviewing the evolving regional situation during the high-level visit.
