Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday strongly condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. He expressed Pakistan’s condemnation during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The prime minister described the attacks as completely unacceptable and a violation of international law. He said the incidents threatened freedom of navigation, commercial shipping, and regional peace and stability.
Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia during the conversation. He said the Pakistani nation stood firmly alongside the Saudi leadership at this critical time.
Furthermore, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and prosperity. He also assured the Crown Prince of Pakistan’s continued cooperation to promote regional peace and stability.
Leaders Discuss Regional Security
Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan would continue working closely with Saudi Arabia and the international community. He stressed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of lawful maritime commerce in the Red Sea, Strait of Hormuz, and the wider region.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support and the close ties between both countries. The prime minister also conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
