Pakistan International Airlines has announced the resumption of direct flights between Lahore and London after a six-year suspension. The move marks a significant milestone in restoring the national carrier’s international operations. According to the airline, the first flight will operate on March 30, reconnecting central Punjab with the United Kingdom through a nonstop service.
The inaugural flight, operating under flight number PK-757, will depart from Lahore for London. This restart reflects PIA’s broader effort to rebuild its long-haul network. Moreover, the airline sees this route as essential for strengthening ties with overseas Pakistanis. London has historically remained one of PIA’s most strategic international destinations.
Flights to Operate Via Heathrow Terminal 4
PIA has confirmed that all Lahore–London flights will land at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4. The airline considers Heathrow a vital hub for passenger connectivity and operational efficiency. Therefore, Terminal 4 has been selected to support smoother arrivals and departures.
Officials said the London route played a foundational role in PIA’s early international expansion. As a result, its revival carries symbolic and operational importance. The airline believes this step will help rebuild passenger confidence. In addition, it aims to improve accessibility for travelers flying between Pakistan and the UK.
Weekly UK Flights to Increase Gradually
With the launch of the Lahore–London service, PIA’s total weekly flights to the UK will increase to seven. Previously, the airline operated up to ten weekly flights to London before services were suspended. However, PIA plans a phased expansion this time.
Officials said flight frequencies will rise gradually based on passenger demand and operational readiness. This cautious approach aims to ensure service reliability. Meanwhile, the airline has already announced three weekly flights from Islamabad to London. These services will begin on March 29, one day before the Lahore route resumes.
Together, the Islamabad and Lahore operations will significantly expand PIA’s presence in the UK market. As a result, passengers will have more scheduling options.
Relief for Travelers and Overseas Pakistanis
The restoration of Lahore–London flights is expected to ease travel for passengers from central Punjab. Many overseas Pakistanis rely on direct connections for family visits and business travel. Therefore, the route’s return is likely to reduce travel time and inconvenience.
PIA officials stated that the decision reflects steady operational recovery. They also reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to expanding international services. As stability improves, more long-haul routes may follow. Ultimately, the airline aims to restore trust through consistency and improved connectivity.
