Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is preparing to expand its flight operations to Europe and the United Kingdom. The national carrier plans to increase frequencies on international routes as part of a wider network expansion strategy.
To support the proposed expansion, PIA is considering leasing five additional aircraft from international companies. The move would strengthen the airline’s fleet before more aircraft are formally added to its operations.
According to sources, PIA is evaluating two aircraft for a wet lease from European carrier Norse Atlantic. A wet lease normally includes the aircraft along with crew and operational support.
The airline is also holding discussions to acquire three additional aircraft through dry lease arrangements. Under this model, the airline leases the aircraft while managing its own crew and operational requirements.
Officials are reportedly moving quickly to complete the required documentation for the induction of the new aircraft. Work on the necessary paperwork is progressing at PIA headquarters.
The planned fleet expansion is expected to provide the airline with greater operational capacity for its international network. Additional aircraft could allow PIA to increase flight frequencies and offer passengers more travel options between Pakistan, Europe and the United Kingdom.
The latest plan reflects PIA’s broader efforts to strengthen its international presence and improve connectivity on important overseas routes. Europe and the UK remain key markets for Pakistani travellers, including overseas communities, business passengers and families.
If the leasing process moves forward, the additional aircraft could play an important role in supporting PIA’s international growth strategy and improving the availability of flights on high-demand routes.
