Weekly Direct Service to Strengthen Pakistan–UK Air Connectivity
Pakistan International Airlines has announced the launch of a weekly direct flight between Lahore and Manchester starting from July 3, 2026. The new route marks another step in the airline’s efforts to expand its international operations, particularly in the United Kingdom.
According to the airline, the service will operate once a week and is expected to improve travel convenience for the large Pakistani community living in Manchester and surrounding regions. The move is also aimed at strengthening business, tourism, and family travel links between Pakistan and the UK.
Officials said the airline is gradually rebuilding its international network as part of broader operational improvements and route expansion plans.
The introduction of the Lahore–Manchester route follows growing demand for direct flights, especially from northern England, where a significant number of Pakistani-origin passengers regularly travel.
Ticket Prices and Aircraft Details Revealed
PIA confirmed that the new route will be operated using a Boeing 777 aircraft, known for its long-haul capacity and international service performance.
The airline also released preliminary fare details for passengers. Economy class tickets are expected to range between PKR 300,000 and PKR 400,000. Meanwhile, Economy Plus fares will be priced between PKR 500,000 and PKR 600,000.
Officials stated that pricing may vary depending on demand, booking time, and seasonal travel patterns. They also advised passengers to book in advance due to expected high demand on the new route.
The airline believes that introducing a direct connection to Manchester will reduce travel time, eliminate transit delays, and provide a more comfortable journey for passengers traveling between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Industry experts say the move is part of PIA’s broader strategy to regain market share on profitable international routes, particularly in Europe.
PIA Continues UK Expansion After London Route Revival
The announcement comes shortly after PIA resumed direct flights from Lahore to London on March 30, 2026. That route restart was widely seen as a key milestone in restoring the airline’s presence in the UK aviation market.
A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that PIA is actively enhancing its flight operations to the United Kingdom. The airline aims to improve frequency, reliability, and passenger service standards across all UK routes.
The expansion reflects growing demand from overseas Pakistanis, especially in cities like London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Bradford, where large communities maintain strong travel links with Pakistan.
Aviation analysts believe the new Manchester route could become one of PIA’s most important European connections if managed efficiently. However, they also stress the need for operational consistency, improved service quality, and competitive pricing.
Passengers have welcomed the announcement, particularly those who previously relied on indirect flights with long layovers in the Middle East or Europe.
The airline is expected to release further details regarding flight schedules, booking availability, and additional services in the coming weeks.
With this new addition, PIA continues to rebuild its international footprint while targeting stronger connectivity between Pakistan and key global destinations.
