Pakistan International Airlines has signed a major partnership with Norse Atlantic for two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The agreement is designed to increase PIA’s long-haul capacity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Flight operations are expected to begin in early November 2026.
Under the ACMI agreement, Norse Atlantic will provide the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance.
The deal will allow PIA to expand services without immediately purchasing additional long-haul aircraft. It will also help the airline respond to strong travel demand between Pakistan and the UK.
Norse Atlantic CEO Eivind Roald said the partnership would improve connectivity and offer more travel options to the large Pakistani community living in Britain.
PIA CEO Amir Hayat described the UK as an important market for the national carrier.
He said the agreement would provide additional capacity and improve passenger choice. He also called the two aircraft the first set of Dreamliners to enter the Pakistani market.
The move comes as PIA continues a broader transformation following its privatisation in December 2025.
The airline is focusing on fleet modernisation, digital upgrades and international route expansion. PIA currently operates 31 aircraft, including Boeing 777s and Airbus A320s.
Pakistan has also recently discussed aircraft and engine arrangements with the United Kingdom, including possible Airbus and Rolls-Royce cooperation.
Separately, the government has explored financing opportunities with the US EXIM Bank for future Boeing 787 purchases.
Norse Atlantic operates a fleet of 12 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners across international routes.
The new partnership could strengthen PIA’s UK network and support its efforts to modernise long-haul operations.
