The federal government has announced another reduction in petrol prices while increasing the price of high-speed diesel. The revised fuel rates will take effect on Friday, October 23, 2026.
According to the Petroleum Division, petrol prices have decreased by Rs1.60 per litre. However, high-speed diesel has become Rs1.64 per litre more expensive.
New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan
Following the latest revision, petrol will cost Rs377.71 per litre, while high-speed diesel will sell for Rs391.75 per litre.
The government continues to collect Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 on diesel.
Global Oil Crisis Continues to Affect Pakistan
Fuel prices have experienced major fluctuations since the US-Iran conflict began in February.
On April 3, petrol reached Rs458.41 per litre, while diesel climbed to Rs520.35.
Although prices have fallen from those peaks, fuel remains expensive for Pakistani consumers.
In July, the government introduced daily fuel price adjustments to respond more quickly to international market changes.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority now determines rates using global oil price trends.
Will the Latest Fuel Prices Affect Transport Costs?
Petrol price reductions may provide limited relief to motorcycle riders, car owners, and other private vehicle users.
However, higher diesel prices could increase operating costs for buses, trucks, and commercial transport.
The government has also introduced fuel-saving measures amid regional energy uncertainty.
Markets must close by 9pm, while official vehicle fuel allocations have been reduced by 50% for three months.
Meanwhile, consumers continue facing financial pressure as fuel costs remain high despite recent reductions.
