The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs2.93 per litre under Pakistan’s daily fuel pricing mechanism.
Following the latest revision, petrol will now cost Rs395.37 per litre. The previous rate was Rs398.30 per litre. The new price took effect on October 13, 2026.
However, high-speed diesel became slightly more expensive. Its price increased by Re0.61 per litre to Rs396.85. The previous diesel rate stood at Rs396.24 per litre.
The latest adjustment comes as global oil markets continue to experience volatility. International fuel prices have remained sensitive to regional tensions, supply concerns and changing demand expectations.
Pakistan recently shifted to a daily fuel price review system to reflect international market movements more quickly. The mechanism replaced longer pricing intervals and is intended to pass global price changes to consumers with less delay.
According to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, daily prices are calculated using a seven-day average of international market rates. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority is also publishing updated petroleum prices to improve transparency.
The latest petrol cut follows several fluctuations during recent weeks. On October 10, petrol was priced at Rs398.30 per litre after a small reduction. Diesel, meanwhile, stood at Rs396.24 per litre.
Fuel prices remain a major concern for households and businesses because they directly affect transport, agriculture and distribution costs.
The latest reduction offers some relief to petrol consumers. However, diesel users will face a marginal increase.
Further price changes will depend on international fuel benchmarks, exchange rates and the government’s daily pricing calculations.
