The federal government has reduced petrol and high-speed diesel prices in Pakistan, providing relief to consumers after the latest review of petroleum rates.
Petrol has been cut by Rs2.27 per litre, bringing its price down from Rs391.30 to Rs389.03 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs3.56 per litre. Its new price is Rs404.97 per litre, down from Rs408.53.
The revised prices will take effect from September 29, 2026, under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Global Oil Market Drives Price Revision
The Petroleum Division announced the revised prices through a notification issued on Monday.
According to the notification, the latest adjustment was based on developments in the international oil market.
The government considered changes in Platts rates, petroleum premiums and other incidentals while determining the new domestic prices.
The reduction follows the previous short-term pricing review, under which petrol had been priced at Rs391.30 per litre and HSD at Rs408.53 per litre.
New Rates Effective From September 29
The latest reduction will apply across the country from September 29.
Petrol and diesel prices are closely watched by consumers because changes in fuel costs can affect transportation expenses and the prices of goods and services.
The government reviews petroleum prices periodically based on international market movements and other relevant costs.
With the latest notification, motorists will pay Rs389.03 per litre for petrol and Rs404.97 per litre for high-speed diesel.
The new rates will remain applicable under the current petroleum pricing mechanism until the next scheduled review.
