According to the Ministry of Finance notification, the petrol price will remain the same as last month at Rs 264.61 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been slashed by Rs 3 per litre, now available at Rs 269.99 per litre. Similarly, the price of light-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 2.40 per litre to Rs 159.76, and kerosene oil is down by Rs 1.46 per litre to Rs 176.81.
Earlier on August 16, the government had also kept petrol rates unchanged while making a significant cut in diesel prices, which remained effective until August 31. The new notification marks the second consecutive reduction in diesel rates, offering some relief amid global oil market fluctuations.
In a related update, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has also revised the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for September 2025. LPG prices have been cut by Rs 1.17 per kilogram, bringing the new rate to Rs 214.2 per kg. Additionally, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder (11.8 kg) has been reduced by Rs 14.36, now costing Rs 2,527 compared to the previous Rs 2,541.36.
The government’s decision to keep petrol stable while reducing diesel and LPG aligns with international oil price trends and aims to ease the financial burden on Pakistani households.
