Section 144 Restrictions to Remain Until August 15
The Peshawar district administration has imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of toy horns ahead of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.
The restrictions have been imposed under Section 144 as authorities prepare for public gatherings and celebrations on August 14.
According to a notification issued by the district administration, the measures will remain in effect until August 15.
Officials said the restrictions are aimed at maintaining public order and preventing dangerous activities during Independence Day celebrations.
Toy horns are commonly used during August 14 celebrations. However, authorities have restricted their sale and use because of concerns over excessive noise and public disturbance.
The administration has warned shopkeepers, vendors and residents to comply with the restrictions.
Strict legal action could be taken against people found violating the official orders.
Toy Pistols, Firecrackers and Aerial Firing Also Banned
The restrictions cover several other items and activities considered dangerous or disruptive.
The sale and purchase of toy pistols have been prohibited.
Authorities have also banned the sale and use of firecrackers.
Aerial firing is strictly prohibited across Peshawar during the Independence Day period.
Fireworks have also been restricted under the Section 144 order.
Officials warned that celebratory gunfire poses a serious danger because bullets fired into the air can return to the ground and cause fatal injuries.
Police and district officials are expected to increase monitoring across busy roads, commercial markets and public gathering areas.
Action may also be taken against businesses selling prohibited items during the restriction period.
The district administration has asked residents to celebrate Independence Day responsibly and avoid activities that could endanger others.
One-Wheeling Targeted Ahead of August 14 Celebrations
Authorities have also imposed a ban on one-wheeling and other dangerous motorcycle stunts.
Such activities often increase around Independence Day as large numbers of young people gather on major roads.
The district administration specifically urged young riders to avoid reckless motorcycle behaviour.
Officials said the restrictions were introduced to protect lives and property.
Police are expected to monitor major roads and locations where dangerous motorcycle stunts are commonly reported.
People violating the ban could face legal action and other penalties under applicable laws.
The administration said Independence Day celebrations should remain peaceful and safe for families, motorists and pedestrians.
Residents have been encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report dangerous activities.
The restrictions will remain in force through August 15 unless authorities issue further directions.
