LAHORE: Two policemen have been arrested after allegedly being caught stealing iron from a Peco factory in Lahore. Police identified the suspects as Waqar Younis and Khalil Ahmed. Both officials were posted at the Industrial Area Police Station.
According to police, officers caught the two men while they were allegedly taking iron from the factory. Authorities recovered around 60 kilograms of iron from their possession. The incident came to light after ASI Nadeem Akhtar filed a complaint against the officials. Police subsequently registered a case at the Industrial Area Police Station.
Police Investigate Alleged Theft Operation
Authorities registered the case under provisions related to theft and breach of authority. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
Police sources said the two officials had allegedly been stealing iron from the factory for an extended period. They reportedly sold the stolen material to junkyards for financial gain.
Following the arrests, investigators have expanded their inquiry to determine whether others were involved. Police are also searching for the suspects’ alleged accomplices.
The investigation will focus on establishing how long the alleged theft had continued. Authorities will also examine whether the suspects had used their official positions to facilitate the alleged operation.
