The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a press release without consulting pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, causing displeasure on his part. Sources revealed that Shaheen was resting after Iftar when the PCB released the statement, catching him off guard.
Reportedly, Shaheen felt dismayed by the PCB’s actions and is likely to respond to their press release. His discontent extends to the selection committee’s lack of response to his inquiries.
Previously, the PCB had issued a statement aligning with Shaheen’s sentiments. The release quoted Shaheen expressing his pride in captaining the Pakistan National Cricket Team and his unwavering support for captain Babar Azam.
“It was an absolute honor to captain the Pakistan National Cricket Team. I will always cherish the memories and the opportunity. As a team player, it is my duty to back our captain, Babar Azam,” the press release stated, echoing Shaheen’s sentiments.
“I have played under his captaincy and have nothing but respect for him. I will try to help him on and off the field. We are all one. Our aim is the same, to help Pakistan become the best team in the world,” it continued.
However, the recent press release issued by PCB lacked Shaheen’s input, causing a rift between him and the board. Shaheen’s commitment to the team and his support for Babar Azam remain steadfast, but the lack of communication from the PCB has strained his relationship with the governing body.
As tensions rise, it remains to be seen how Shaheen Shah Afridi will address the PCB’s actions and how the board will respond to his concerns.
