The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a major talent hunt in Balochistan. Young cricketers participated in trials for the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 age groups.
The two-day event attracted aspiring players from Kalat, Mastung, and Surab. The initiative aims to discover fresh cricket talent and provide opportunities for young athletes.
Over 100 Young Cricketers Participate in Trials
According to focal person Waheed Mengal, more than 100 boys participated in the selection process. Players from 12 local cricket clubs also joined the trials.
The young athletes displayed their batting, bowling, and fielding skills during the event.
PCB coach Muhammad Hassan supervised the trials and assessed the players’ abilities.
Meanwhile, local authorities supported the event and helped promote cricket activities in the region.
The trials offered young players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills before cricket officials.
PCB Expands Youth Cricket Opportunities
The talent hunt forms part of the PCB’s wider efforts to develop young cricketers across Pakistan.
Earlier, the board announced nationwide age-group trials for the 2026-27 cricket season.
The selection process covers 16 cricket regions, including Quetta and Dera Murad Jamali.
PCB-appointed coaches will evaluate promising players through district and regional trials.
The first phase of nationwide trials will conclude on October 21.
Sports representatives welcomed the initiative in Balochistan. They praised efforts to give local players greater exposure.
Such programs can help young athletes improve their skills and pursue opportunities in competitive cricket.
The initiative also highlights the importance of expanding sports activities in areas where young players need better access to professional training.
