The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced central contracts for Under-19 players for the first time. The move aims to reward young talent and support their development.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision during a meeting with the Pakistan U19 squad. The team recently impressed in England by winning the four-match ODI series 3-1.
PCB Rewards Young Players After England Success
Naqvi met the young cricketers individually and praised their recent performances. He also urged them to maintain their focus and continue improving.
The new contracts recognise strong performances at the junior level. They also give emerging players greater support as they build their cricket careers.
PCB officials view the initiative as part of a broader effort to develop future national-team players.
U19 Coach Welcomes Central Contracts
Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar welcomed the PCB’s decision. He said the contracts could motivate young players to work harder.
“Rewarding good performances boosts the confidence of young players,” Shahid said. He also praised Naqvi’s encouragement for the players and coaching staff.
According to the coach, recognition at this stage can strengthen the players’ confidence and motivation.
Players Praise Development Camps
Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousuf also welcomed the announcement. He credited the development camps in Multan with helping young players improve their skills.
Farhan said the camps have produced positive results over the past two years. He added that the first-ever U19 central contracts brought great happiness to the squad.
Young cricketer Aliyan Salman said the contracts would improve players’ confidence and morale. Jahangir Bilal added that the financial support could also help young cricketers support their families.
Meanwhile, Rizwanullah thanked the PCB chairman and board for recognising the efforts of the U19 players.
