Noman Ali Set for Lancashire County Championship Stint
The Pakistan Cricket Board has granted No Objection Certificates to 12 national cricketers for overseas assignments in the Caribbean Premier League and England’s County Championship.
The approvals allow 11 Pakistani players to participate in the CPL 2026, while experienced left-arm spinner Noman Ali has been cleared to represent Lancashire in first-class cricket.
Noman’s NOC will remain valid until September 27.
Lancashire signed the Pakistan spinner for the remaining part of their County Championship campaign.
He is expected to make his debut against Northamptonshire on August 20 at Emirates Old Trafford.
The match will also form part of Lancashire’s Red Ball Festival. Lancashire’s official schedule confirms the Northamptonshire fixture begins on August 20.
The county move gives Noman an opportunity to gain experience in English conditions after becoming a key member of Pakistan’s Test bowling attack.
His availability until late September means he could feature in several important matches during the closing stages of Lancashire’s season.
Eleven Pakistan Cricketers Cleared for CPL 2026
The PCB has also issued NOCs to 11 players for the Caribbean Premier League.
The approved players are Shadab Khan, Sufiyan Muqeem, Sahibzada Farhan, Naseem Shah, Hunain Shah, Hasan Nawaz, Usman Khan, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Haris, Usman Tariq and Usama Mir.
However, not every player has been given the same availability period.
Shadab Khan, Sufiyan Muqeem, Sahibzada Farhan, Naseem Shah, Hunain Shah, Hasan Nawaz, Usman Khan and Maaz Sadaqat have received NOCs valid from August 19 until September 21.
Their delayed availability is linked to domestic cricket commitments in Pakistan.
The National Champions Cup 2026-27 is scheduled to take place in Multan from August 11 to August 18.
The PCB has prioritised the domestic competition before allowing several centrally contracted and national-level players to join their CPL franchises.
This means several Pakistani stars will miss the opening stages of the Caribbean tournament before travelling after completing their domestic assignments.
The CPL 2026 began on Friday, August 7.
The PCB’s decision reflects an attempt to balance overseas franchise opportunities with participation in Pakistan’s domestic structure.
Haris, Usama Mir and Usman Tariq Receive Different NOC Windows
Three players have been granted different participation periods based on their individual schedules.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris has received an NOC covering August 7 to September 20.
Leg-spinner Usama Mir has been cleared from August 7 until September 21.
Mystery spinner Usman Tariq has received permission for a shorter period, from August 8 until August 18.
The varying dates show that the PCB is managing overseas availability on a player-by-player basis rather than issuing blanket approvals for the entire tournament.
Several players expected to travel to the Caribbean also have roles in Pakistan’s new domestic season.
The four-team National Champions Cup is a List A competition and forms an important part of the PCB’s 2026-27 domestic calendar.
According to the report, six players connected with CPL participation are also included in fixed playing line-ups for different teams in the National Champions Cup.
The board had previously indicated that players required for the domestic event would only be released for the CPL after completing those commitments.
The NOC system allows the PCB to control the participation of Pakistani cricketers in overseas competitions while considering national and domestic responsibilities.
For players, leagues such as the CPL provide additional experience against international cricketers and exposure to different playing conditions.
For the PCB, however, maintaining the strength and importance of domestic competitions remains a priority.
With the NOCs now approved, Pakistan will have a significant presence in the 2026 Caribbean Premier League, while Noman Ali will begin his first Lancashire assignment later this month.
