The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar from all cricket activities for two years. Additionally, the board imposed a fine of Rs. 1 million following disciplinary proceedings.
According to a PCB statement issued in Lahore on Thursday, the action followed an inquiry into information submitted during Hamza Nazar’s visa application through the board.
The inquiry found that he failed to disclose complete and accurate information. Furthermore, investigators concluded that he provided misleading details and withheld material facts.
Inquiry Committee Reviewed Visa Application Details
The PCB constituted a three-member inquiry committee to examine the matter. Meanwhile, Hamza Nazar received an opportunity to present his explanation and respond to the allegations.
After reviewing his response and the available evidence, the committee submitted its findings and recommendations to the PCB. Consequently, the board approved disciplinary action against the cricketer.
PCB Stresses Commitment To Integrity
Following a detailed review, the PCB suspended Hamza Nazar from all domestic and international cricket activities for two years. In addition, the board imposed a fine of Rs. 1 million.
The PCB stated that it treats cases involving misrepresentation, non-disclosure and misleading information with utmost seriousness. Moreover, it said such conduct contradicts the standards of honesty, professionalism and responsibility expected from individuals associated with Pakistan cricket.
The board added that it would not allow any individual to damage the reputation of the PCB, Pakistan cricket or its supporters.
