Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra is making her full-time return to acting after embracing motherhood, marking a new chapter in her career.
The actor recently spoke about balancing her professional life with motherhood while promoting her upcoming Netflix show Shaque. She also praised the changing attitudes of the Indian entertainment industry toward working mothers.
Parineeti Chopra Says Motherhood Has Not Limited Her Work
Speaking at the trailer launch in Mumbai, Parineeti said she has not experienced directors or writers approaching her differently because she became a mother.
“I don’t think I’ve had a single conversation with a maker, director, or writer who has mentioned motherhood to me. I don’t remember anybody saying, ‘Now that you’re a mom, this is what we’re offering you,’ and that lack of association is the win. I would hate to stop working just because I became a mom. It’s a two-way relationship; I have to be offered work, and I would be sad to lose work because I’ve done such a beautiful thing in producing a baby”
The actress believes this shift reflects a broader change in how audiences view working mothers.
She credited viewers for becoming more accepting of actresses who return to their careers after having children.
“The audience is not cancelling mothers, and hence writers, directors and actors can make content. This business is not solitary; it is supply and demand with the audience. I’m glad the industry is changing and that the audience has made all this possible. So, it is all lovely and positive.”
Parineeti Praises Alia, Deepika and Priyanka
Parineeti also highlighted fellow actresses Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra for continuing their careers after motherhood.
According to the actress, their work has helped normalise mothers remaining active in the entertainment industry.
“Sadly, one generation had to pay that price because maybe that audience was not excited to see mothers; I fail to understand that, but that was the reality at some time. I’m so glad that our generation, including Alia (Bhatt), me, Deepika (Padukone), my own sister (Priyanka Chopra), who is working in the West, and all of us can be mothers, and we are doing the same quality of work. In fact, I think we are doing better work now,” she added.
Parineeti welcomed her first child with politician husband Raghav Chadha in October. She is now returning to acting with Shaque, which also marks her debut in an OTT series.
Her comments highlight how Bollywood’s approach toward motherhood appears to be evolving. For Parineeti, becoming a mother has not meant stepping away from her career. Instead, she sees it as another part of her life while continuing to pursue meaningful work.
