ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan today reported 17 percent growth in the inflows of remittances from the overseas Pakistanis in August 2026.
In a statement today, SBP said that Pakistan received $3.66 billion in workers’ remittances during August 2026.
According to State Bank of Pakistan data, remittances also rose 16.5% year-on-year from $3.14 billion recorded in August 2025.
Meanwhile, total remittances reached $7.28 billion during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27.
The figure represents a significant increase from $6.35 billion recorded during the corresponding period last year.
Saudi Arabia remained Pakistan’s largest source of workers’ remittances in August, sending $873.5 million to the country.
However, Saudi inflows declined 4.4% from $913.9 million in July, while increasing 18.6% from $736.7 million a year earlier.
The United Arab Emirates retained second place with remittances of $749.8 million, showing monthly and annual growth of 1.7% and 16.6%, respectively.
Dubai contributed $634.6 million, followed by Abu Dhabi with $91.1 million and Sharjah with $13.2 million.
The United Kingdom ranked third, sending $563.7 million, up 1.5% from July and 21.6% from August 2025.
Furthermore, remittances from the United States reached $308.9 million, declining 2.3% monthly but rising 15.6% annually.
European Union countries collectively sent $495.9 million, representing increases of 7.5% month-on-month and 14.6% year-on-year.
Italy remained the largest EU contributor with $152.9 million, followed by Spain, Germany, Greece and France.
Other Gulf Cooperation Council countries contributed $326.7 million, while Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain remained key sources.
Australia, Canada, South Africa, South Korea, Norway, Malaysia, Japan and Switzerland also contributed to Pakistan’s remittance inflows during August.
