On Thursday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar asserted that Pakistan had faced three wars over the Kashmir issue, expressing the nation’s readiness to confront even 300 wars if necessary.
Speaking at a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, he called on India to refrain from solidifying its occupation, reverse the illegal actions of August 5, 2019, and avoid altering the demographic makeup of the disputed territory.
During the session, attended by AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and assembly members, Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic support for Kashmiris. He dismissed the recent Indian Supreme Court verdict as politically motivated, considering it a tool to consolidate the illegal Indian occupation.
The prime minister urged India to cease human rights abuses in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), repeal emergency laws, reduce military presence, and grant unrestricted access to UN bodies and international media. Kakar paid tribute to Kashmir movement martyrs and those affected by Indian ceasefire violations along the Line of Control.
Emphasizing Kashmir’s significance to Pakistan, he stated that Kashmir is the country’s jugular vein, integral to its identity. He declared that Pakistan would continue supporting the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.
Providing a historical account, Kakar highlighted the prolonged suffering of Kashmiris and the failure to implement UNSC resolutions, accusing the Indian government of consolidating its occupation through legislative and administrative measures. He urged India to honor its commitment to UN resolutions.
Describing India’s actions in IIOJK as a breach of international laws and the UN Charter, Kakar criticized India’s claim to being the “world’s largest democracy,” suggesting it should be called the “world’s largest hypocrisy.” He called attention to documented human rights abuses, challenging the international community’s conscience.
While expressing a desire for good neighborly ties with India, Kakar insisted that India must undo the situation created by its unilateral actions on August 5, 2019. He concluded by stating that Pakistan seeks peace with justice, not peace with injustice, and asserted the country’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty in the face of any threats or intimidation.
