Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt has won the first gold medal for Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022 by lifting 405-kgs record weight.
So far, this is the first gold medal for Pakistan in the ongoing games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom. By winning gold medal in weightlifting, Nooh Butt has promoted image of Pakistan in the world.

Earlierย Hussain Shah won a bronze medal that was the first medal won by a Pakistani athlete in the games.
Butt has set a new record in the Commonwealth Games by lifting 173-kgs in snatch in the 109+kg category. He also created another record and lifted 232-kgs in clean and jerk _ overall, he lifted 405-kgs to make new record in the Commonwealth Games.
New Zealand’s David Andrew got silver by lifting 394kg whereas India’s Singh Gurdeep managed to win bronze by lifting an overall 390kg.
Earlier, In the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Butt had got a bronze medal in the 105+kg category. In the same games, Talha Talib also bagged bronze in the 62kg category.
