ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani passport has fallen to the 103rd position in the latest Henley Passport Index, marking a continued decline in global mobility. Pakistan now ranks tied with Yemen, offering visa-free access to only 31 destinations worldwide.
Previously, Pakistan held the 96th position with access to 32 destinations, reflecting another setback for citizens seeking international travel opportunities. The decline underscores ongoing challenges related to global diplomacy and travel facilitation for Pakistani nationals.
Henley Passport Index Ranks Regional and Global Competitors
The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without obtaining a visa beforehand. In the 2025 ranking, Iraq (104th), Syria (105th), and Afghanistan (106th) placed below Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Indian passport also experienced a setback, slipping from 77th to 85th position, with visa-free access to 57 destinations.

Top Performers Maintain Strong Positions
At the top of the list, Singapore retained its title as the worldโs most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 193 destinations. It was followed by South Korea (190) and Japan (189). European nations such as Germany, Italy, and Spain also remained among the top five.
Impact on Pakistani Travellers
The drop in ranking further restricts travel opportunities for Pakistani citizens, increasing dependence on pre-approved visas and travel permits. Experts believe that improving diplomatic relations and strengthening global partnerships could help Pakistan regain some of its lost mobility in future rankings.
