The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and its consulates have suspended all services across the United Arab Emirates until March 3, citing precautionary measures amid escalating regional tensions.
According to reports aired by ARY News, the decision follows recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, as well as Tehranโs retaliatory actions across the Gulf. Officials said the developments raised safety concerns for foreign nationals, prompting swift action from Pakistani authorities.
Embassy prioritizes safety of Pakistani community
In an official statement, the embassy emphasized that it took the step to safeguard the Pakistani community residing in the UAE. Authorities urged citizens to follow instructions issued by local officials, avoid crowded public areas, and stay informed through verified channels.
Meanwhile, officials in Abu Dhabi and Dubai confirmed that they will announce the resumption of consular services once the security situation stabilizes. The mission assured citizens that their safety and welfare remain its top priority.
Airspace closures disrupt regional travel
Separately, the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict has triggered widespread air travel disruptions. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Syria has closed completely. Authorities also suspended flight operations in the UAE, Lebanon and Jordan.
Airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi remained shut until the afternoon, officials said. However, Pakistanโs airspace remains fully operational and safe for all flights.
Key transit hubs such as Dubai International Airport and Doha have faced severe restrictions, stranding aircraft and passengers worldwide. Aviation analyst John Strickland described the disruption as unprecedented in scale and complexity.
