Pakistani film actress Meera was denied entry to Canada after being questioned for several hours by immigration officials at the Niagara border.
The actress, whose real name is Syeda Irtiza Rubab, was travelling from New York to Canada to attend a show. Canadian authorities stopped her at the border and later sent her back to the United States.
Meera said she still does not know the exact reason for the decision.
According to the actress, immigration officials asked her basic questions before refusing entry. She said she suspects someone may have filed a malicious complaint against her, although no official confirmation has been provided.
The incident has renewed attention on Meera’s previous immigration problems abroad.
She had earlier faced difficulties entering the United Kingdom. British authorities once refused her entry and imposed a 10-year ban following immigration questioning at Heathrow Airport.
Her mother later said the situation resulted from a misunderstanding because Meera had difficulty understanding some questions in English.
Although the UK ban eventually expired, Meera continued facing visa problems. A later application was reportedly refused after her travel agent submitted incorrect information.
In July 2025, Meera publicly appealed to British authorities for permission to visit her sister, who was undergoing cancer treatment in London.
Meera currently holds a US Green Card and frequently travels to the United States for personal and professional commitments.
She had also previously visited Calgary, Canada, where she promoted her film Psycho and performed on stage.
Canadian authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact reason for denying her entry.
The latest incident has once again placed the actress’s international travel difficulties in the spotlight.
