Home Side Aim to Continue Dominance After ODI Clean Sweep
Pakistan womenโs cricket team starts a three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe women in Karachi today. The match will be played at the National Bank Stadium. It begins at 7:30 pm local time.
Pakistan enter the series with strong confidence. They recently won the ODI series 3-0. As a result, they climbed to second place in the ICC Womenโs Championship 2025โ29 standings.
The team now aims to carry the same winning form into T20 cricket. Zimbabwe, however, want to recover after a tough ODI series defeat.
In addition, this series helps Pakistan prepare for major upcoming events. These include a tri-series in Ireland and the ICC Womenโs T20 World Cup in England and Wales.
New Players Join Experienced Core in Pakistan Squad
Pakistan announced a 15-member squad for the T20I series. Captain Fatima Sana leads the team once again.
The squad includes two debutants. Amber Kainat and Saira Jabeen receive their first T20I call-ups. Both players earned selection after strong domestic performances.
Amber Kainat impressed in the National Womenโs T20 Tournament. She took 11 wickets in eight matches. Therefore, selectors rewarded her consistent bowling form.
Saira Jabeen also returns to the national side. She earlier toured South Africa with Pakistan this year. This experience strengthens her international exposure.
Meanwhile, experienced batter Iram Javed returns to the squad. She last played in the ICC Womenโs T20 World Cup 2024.
She delivered strong domestic performances. She scored 257 runs in nine matches. In addition, she maintained a strike rate of 150.29. Her return boosts Pakistanโs batting depth.
Full Squad Confirmed as Pakistan Target Strong Start
Pakistan selected a balanced squad for the series. The team combines youth and experience. This mix improves depth in both batting and bowling.
The squad includes Fatima Sana (captain), Amber Kainat, Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, and Iram Javed. It also features Muneeba Ali (wicket-keeper), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Saira Jabeen, Tasmia Rubab, and Tuba Hassan.
Reserves include Diana Baig, Momina Riasat, Sadaf Shamas, Sidra Amin, and Syeda Aroob Shah.
The three-match schedule is confirmed. The first T20I is on May 12. The second match is on May 14. The final game is on May 15. All matches start at 7:30 pm.
Pakistan Eye Series Win and World Cup Preparation
Pakistan want to continue their winning streak. They also aim to test new talent under pressure. Therefore, this series is important for future planning.
Zimbabwe will try to improve their T20 performance. However, Pakistan hold the advantage due to recent form.
Coaches will closely observe debutants and squad combinations. In addition, they will prepare strategies for upcoming global tournaments.
Overall, Pakistan start the series as strong favourites. Still, T20 cricket can be unpredictable. So, both teams will look for a strong opening performance in Karachi.
