Heavy Industries Taxila introduces D-248 and S-369 with extended strike capabilities
TAXILA: Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) has unveiled two new long-range loitering munitions, the D-248 and S-369, during the 2026 Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Expo, marking a significant step in Pakistanโs indigenous defence technology programme.
According to HIT, the newly introduced systems are the countryโs largest and longest-range loitering munitions developed to date. The D-248 has an operational range of between 2,200 and 3,000 kilometres, while the S-369 is designed to engage targets at distances ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 kilometres.
The unveiling highlights Pakistanโs continued focus on expanding its domestically produced unmanned systems and precision-strike capabilities. Both platforms are designed for long-endurance missions and are intended to provide enhanced operational flexibility across a wide range of environments.
Advanced performance and endurance
The D-248 features a tailless delta-wing design with a maximum take-off weight of 240 kilograms. It can carry a payload of between 30 and 50 kilograms, has a wingspan of 3.3 metres, and reaches a top speed of 225 kilometres per hour while cruising at approximately 185 kilometres per hour.
HIT stated that the D-248 can remain airborne for 12 to 14 hours and operate at altitudes of up to 4,500 metres, allowing it to conduct extended surveillance and precision-strike missions.
Second platform expands operational options
Meanwhile, the S-369 incorporates an arrow-delta wing configuration with a maximum take-off weight ranging from 215 to 225 kilograms. The system features a four-metre wingspan, supports a 30 to 50-kilogram payload, and achieves a maximum speed of 220 kilometres per hour while maintaining a cruising speed between 160 and 180 kilometres per hour.
Like the D-248, the S-369 can operate at altitudes of up to 4,500 metres, providing long-range operational capability. Defence analysts say the introduction of both systems reflects Pakistanโs growing emphasis on indigenous unmanned technologies and modern battlefield capabilities as the country continues investing in advanced defence innovation.
