Indigenous technology to strengthen border security
Pakistan has introduced the locally developed “Sufra” jamming gun, designed to counter suicide and kamikaze drones within a 1.5-kilometre range. The advanced system, created by the National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP), was showcased at the Karachi Maritime Expo on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in the country’s defence innovation.
Operational capability and deployment potential
According to NECOP manager Hamza Khalid, the jamming gun operates effectively within a 30-degree adjustable angle, allowing flexibility for tactical use. It can seize control of drones mid-flight or completely disrupt their communication systems, forcing them to land or become inoperable.
Designed for multiple drone threats
Demonstrations at the Expo showed that the Sufra gun can handle multiple simultaneous drone incursions. Khalid said the system could be deployed along sensitive borders and at large public gatherings to ensure enhanced protection against aerial threats.
