DOHA, Qatar: Pakistan, Türkiye, Qatar and Indonesia signed a multilateral defence cooperation agreement to strengthen their military capabilities, expanding defence production, and technological collaboration.
The four countries signed the Badr Memorandum of Understanding in Doha, Qatar, today (October 21), according to Türkiye’s Defence Ministry.
The agreement reflects the countries’ commitment to deepening strategic partnerships and developing closer links between their defence industries.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hasan Al Thani, and Indonesian Deputy Defence Minister Yusuf Jauhari signed the accord.
According to the Turkish ministry, the agreement seeks to encourage cooperation in military production, technical training, research and development. It also aims to improve defence capabilities by combining the participating countries’ respective industrial and technological strengths.
The ministry said the initiative could strengthen defence industry integration and help meet the requirements of allied and friendly countries.
The accord comes as Türkiye continues to expand its defence partnerships across the Middle East and Asia. Ankara maintains close military ties with Qatar and has developed defence industry cooperation with Pakistan and Indonesia.
Pakistan and Türkiye have also pursued joint defence projects, while Indonesia has strengthened its industrial relationship with Ankara.
The Badr agreement provides a broader framework for cooperation among the four countries. However, the announcement did not specify particular joint weapons programmes, funding commitments or implementation timelines.
The pact highlights growing efforts by participating countries to strengthen domestic defence industries, improve technical cooperation and build more resilient military production capabilities amid evolving regional security challenges.
