ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to install advanced screening machinery at airports across Pakistan to enhance security checks and facilitate smoother travel for passengers. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, as authorities moved to modernize airport operations.
According to reports, officials from the ministries of interior and defence participated in the meeting and discussed a coordinated strategy to improve efficiency and passenger convenience. The participants emphasized the need for stronger interdepartmental coordination to streamline processes and deliver better services to travelers.
Moreover, the meeting concluded that modern screening equipment would be deployed to accelerate security checks. Authorities also agreed to introduce joint counters and implement a single-point checking system, enabling multiple agencies to conduct inspections at one location. Consequently, this approach is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and congestion at airports.
In addition, officials reviewed progress on the installation of electronic gates aimed at further expediting passenger clearance. The interior minister stressed that faster processing and improved facilities remain key priorities for the government. He noted that the use of a single scanner for joint inspections would save time and enhance overall efficiency.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and other senior officials, including Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha and Defence Secretary Muhammad Ali, attended the session alongside representatives from key departments such as the Anti-Narcotics Force and the Federal Investigation Agency.
Furthermore, the defence secretary informed the meeting that advanced machinery is also being imported to prevent bird strikes and related risks to aircraft. Overall, the initiative reflects the governmentโs commitment to providing safer, faster, and more convenient travel experiences.
