Pakistan aims to attract $1 billion in Chinese investment for its pharmaceutical sector. The government has invited 130 leading Chinese investment companies to explore business opportunities.
Officials expect the initiative to strengthen pharmaceutical manufacturing and promote long-term industrial cooperation. Moreover, the move seeks to expand Pakistan’s healthcare industry.
Karachi To Host Major Pharmaceutical Investment Forum
The Ministry of National Health Services will organise a three-day international pharmaceutical conference in Karachi. The event will take place from July 17 to July 19.
Major Chinese pharmaceutical companies are expected to participate in the conference. Meanwhile, around 150 Pakistani pharmaceutical and investment firms will also attend.
The event will serve as Pakistan’s first business-to-business pharmaceutical investment forum dedicated to Chinese companies. Therefore, officials expect it to boost bilateral industrial partnerships.
Focus On Technology Transfer And Manufacturing
Chinese companies are expected to invest in medical devices, vaccines, pharmaceutical raw materials and surgical products. Consequently, the investments could strengthen Pakistan’s local manufacturing capacity.
The conference will also facilitate agreements on technology transfer and joint manufacturing units. Furthermore, officials hope the event will encourage broader industrial collaboration between both countries.
Government officials project Pakistan’s pharmaceutical market could attract investments worth $5 billion within the next few years. Accordingly, the conference is expected to play a key role in achieving that target.
