Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi hosted a special reception in Islamabad for European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner and senior European diplomats on Tuesday evening.
The gathering brought together representatives from several European countries and provided an opportunity to strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement with the European Union. Naqvi personally welcomed Brunner and other guests at the event.
Diplomats from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Sweden attended the reception. European Union diplomats were also present.
During the event, the visiting delegation received a briefing on Islamabad’s historical importance and development. Commissioner Brunner praised the capital’s natural beauty and scenic surroundings.
The European commissioner and diplomats thanked Naqvi for the warm welcome and hospitality. A dinner was also arranged in honour of Brunner and his delegation.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, senators and senior government officials also attended the event.
The reception came as Pakistan continues to maintain close engagement with European countries on migration, overseas Pakistanis, border management and broader diplomatic cooperation.
Regular dialogue with the European Union remains important for Pakistan because Europe is a major destination for Pakistani workers, students and migrants. Cooperation on legal migration and mobility has therefore become an increasingly important part of bilateral discussions.
The Islamabad reception also offered officials an informal platform to strengthen contacts with European representatives and discuss future cooperation.
Officials said such diplomatic interactions can help deepen relations between Pakistan and European countries while supporting continued communication on shared priorities.
