Pakistan Suffer Eighth Consecutive Away Test Loss
Pakistan have fallen to the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 standings after a damaging defeat in the Caribbean.
West Indies defeated Pakistan by 90 runs in the opening Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
The hosts successfully defended a 211-run target by dismissing Pakistan for only 120 on the fourth day.
The result gave West Indies a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
It also extended Pakistan’s deeply concerning record outside their home conditions.
Pakistan have now lost eight consecutive away Test matches. Their latest defeat exposed serious weaknesses in the batting unit under pressure.
Pakistan have played five matches in the current World Test Championship cycle. They have recorded one victory and four defeats.
The team has only four championship points. Its points percentage has dropped to 6.66, leaving Pakistan ninth in the standings.
Pakistan had previously been deducted eight World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Test defeat against Bangladesh. The penalty has significantly damaged their position despite one victory in the current cycle.
West Indies remain eighth despite securing their second victory of the championship cycle.

Pakistan must now recover before the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval, scheduled to begin on August 2.
