Pakistan will host several international hockey events over the next six months. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) expects several foreign teams to visit the country.
PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani shared the plans in an interview with Geo News. He said the tours could help revive international hockey activities in Pakistan.
China, Canada and European Teams to Visit
According to Wani, China will send its hockey team to Pakistan in November 2026. The visit will follow South Korea’s recent tour.
Canada will also visit Pakistan after China. In addition, three European teams have shown interest in touring the country.
Wani said these international visits would provide more opportunities for Pakistani players. They would also help bring international hockey back to local venues.
Pakistan Plans Major Hockey Event
The PHF also plans to host a 10-nation international hockey event next year. The federation is also working on plans for a domestic hockey league.
Wani said these events form part of broader efforts to develop hockey in Pakistan. The PHF wants regular international competition to support the growth of local players.
The federation also aims to increase international exposure for Pakistan’s national hockey team.
PHF Seeks Neutral Venue for Champions Trophy
Wani also discussed the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy. He said the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) holds the authority to move the tournament to a neutral venue.
The PHF has already asked the AHF to shift the tournament from India to a neutral location. However, the continental body has not yet announced a decision.
Wani said the PHF understands the relevant rules and regulations. He added that the federation has clearly communicated its position to the AHF.
The PHF president also said Pakistan’s national honour and dignity remain central to the federation’s position on international hockey matters.
