The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Saudi Cricket have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation and accelerate the development of cricket in Saudi Arabia. The agreement also includes plans to build an international cricket stadium in Jeddah.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammad Al Saud signed the MoU. Both organizations described the partnership as a significant step toward expanding cricket’s footprint in the Kingdom.
Jeddah Stadium to Support International Cricket
Under the agreement, the PCB and Saudi Cricket will jointly develop an international-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah. The proposed venue aims to support Saudi Arabia’s ambition of hosting major international cricket tournaments and other global sporting events.
In addition, both organizations will work together to strengthen cricket infrastructure across the Kingdom. The partnership will also promote the exchange of technical knowledge and professional expertise. As a result, Saudi Arabia hopes to establish a stronger foundation for the sport and attract international competitions in the coming years.
Partnership to Develop Cricket Ecosystem
The MoU also focuses on developing players, coaches, and match officials through technical training programs, competitions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Furthermore, the two cricket bodies will cooperate to improve the country’s overall cricket ecosystem and raise professional standards.
Officials said the agreement will create new investment opportunities while promoting sports tourism in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the initiative supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to expand the sports sector, encourage greater community participation, and enhance the quality of life.
The announcement was made jointly by the PCB and Saudi Cricket. Saudi Cricket operates with the support of the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and the Vision 2030 program. Consequently, both organizations expressed confidence that the partnership will strengthen cricket’s presence in Saudi Arabia and prepare the Kingdom to host major international cricket events in the future.
