Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have called for dialogue and diplomacy to address rising tensions across the Middle East.
The four foreign ministers met in New York on September 21 during the United Nations General Assembly. They discussed regional security and recent international developments.
The ministers also agreed to maintain close coordination through the Regional Four (R4) framework. The group includes Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
Four Nations Back Regional Security
The ministers expressed concern over continuing conflicts and tensions in the region. They said dialogue and diplomacy offer a path toward lasting solutions.
They also stressed the importance of safe maritime navigation. The ministers reaffirmed support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
The four countries also backed Yemen’s internationally recognised government and the Presidential Leadership Council. They called for a political process and inclusive Yemeni dialogue.
Palestine Remains a Key Focus
The ministers reaffirmed their support for Palestinian self-determination and statehood.
They backed the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders. They also supported East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with their previous R4 position.
The ministers also discussed Sudan. They reaffirmed support for Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
They called for efforts to prevent the flow of weapons, mercenaries and foreign fighters into Sudan.
R4 Countries Continue Consultations
The foreign ministers agreed to maintain close contact on regional and international developments.
The R4 framework has become a platform for regular consultation among the four countries. Their earlier meeting in Cairo also focused on regional peace, security and diplomatic engagement.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is in New York for the UN General Assembly high-level week from September 21 to 25. His schedule includes meetings focused on regional and international peace and security.
