ISLAMABAD: Workersโ remittances reached $3.6 billion in July 2026, marking a strong start to the current fiscal year.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), remittance inflows increased by 13 percent year-on-year in July. Meanwhile, they also rose 4.5 percent compared with the previous month.
July marked the first month of fiscal year 2026-27. Therefore, the latest figures indicate continued strength in overseas Pakistanisโ financial support.
The central bank released the latest remittances data on Monday morning. The figures highlighted sustained growth in foreign inflows despite economic challenges.
Remittances Surpass $40 Billion in Previous Fiscal Year
The latest increase follows a strong performance during fiscal year 2025-26. During that period, Pakistan received more than $40 billion in workersโ remittances.
Moreover, the rising inflows provide important support to Pakistanโs external financing position. They also help strengthen the countryโs foreign exchange reserves.
Remittances remain a key source of foreign exchange for Pakistan. Millions of overseas Pakistanis regularly send funds to their families and dependents.
The government has also encouraged formal banking channels for remittance transfers. Consequently, official inflows have remained an important part of the countryโs external sector.
The July figures suggest that remittances could maintain their upward trend during fiscal year 2026-27. However, future inflows will depend on global economic conditions and employment trends.
The government and central bank continue monitoring remittance flows closely. These inflows remain vital for supporting household incomes and Pakistanโs balance of payments.
