ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information on Friday rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban that they targeted alleged terrorist camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan using drones. The ministry described the allegations as false and accused the Taliban administration of spreading propaganda to divert attention from terrorism inside Afghanistan.
According to an official statement issued through the ministry’s fact-check account, the Afghan Taliban claimed to have launched drone strikes against alleged ISKP hideouts in Pakistan’s border regions. However, the ministry categorically denied the claims and said no such strikes had taken place.
Pakistan Rejects Drone Strike Claims
The ministry stated that one rudimentary Taliban drone entered Pakistan’s airspace near Shinko in Khyber district. Moreover, it said the Pakistan Air Force immediately detected and neutralised the drone through its air defence system. Officials also released an image of the recovered drone to support their statement.
Furthermore, the ministry alleged that terrorist groups, including Daesh and several other banned organisations, continue to operate from areas under Taliban control. It also accused the Afghan administration of issuing misleading statements to conceal its failure to eliminate militant sanctuaries.
Border Security Tensions Continue
Earlier on Friday, the Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for air strikes on alleged terrorist hideouts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The announcement came days after Pakistan conducted cross-border strikes that officials said killed 26 terrorists.
Meanwhile, Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan. However, the Taliban have consistently denied those allegations, insisting that Pakistan’s security challenges are internal matters.
Pakistan has also raised its concerns at international forums, including the United Nations, while demanding verifiable action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
Meta Description: Pakistan rejects Afghan Taliban drone strike claims, says PAF intercepted an intruding drone and reiterates concerns over cross-border terrorism.
