Antiquities Arrive in Islamabad
Seven historical artefacts recovered in Italy have been returned to Pakistan. The antiquities have reached Islamabad, according to the Pakistani embassy in Rome.
The embassy said the artefacts were transferred to Pakistan after being handed over to the Pakistani Consul General in Milan. The items were recovered by Italyโs Guardia di Finanza.
Return Follows Earlier Handover
The latest return comes after Italy handed over 90 historical artefacts to Pakistan in October 2025.
The Pakistani embassy said the recovery reflects strong diplomatic cooperation between Pakistan and Italy. It added that both countries are working together to protect cultural heritage and prevent illegal trafficking of antiquities.
Pakistan Thanks Italian Authorities
The embassy appreciated the role of the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and the Guardia di Finanza in recovering the artefacts.
Pakistan also thanked the Italian Ministry of Culture and other relevant institutions for supporting the return process.
The embassy said cooperation between Pakistan and Italy in archaeology, research, and cultural preservation is continuing to grow.
Pakistan is home to some of the worldโs oldest civilisations, including Mehrgarh, Mohenjo-Daro, and Gandhara.
