ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has received more electric buses from China. According to officials, new green and pink buses imported from China have arrived in Quetta, marking a major expansion of transport.
The Balochistan Transport Department confirmed that the buses cost 810 million rupees. Officials said the arrival supports efforts to modernise public transport across the provincial capital. The delivery adds significant capacity to the existing system and improves daily travel for thousands of commuters.
Pink Buses Introduced for Women
The Transport Department reported that the new fleet includes four pink buses. These buses will operate exclusively for women within Quetta city. The department aims to create safer and more comfortable travel options for female passengers. The introduction of pink buses also reflects ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and inclusivity in public transport.
Service Expands Across Key Routes
The buses will operate on several important routes throughout the city. The service already covers major routes such as the one from University to Sariab Mill. Officials expect the expanded fleet to improve reliability and reduce waiting times for commuters. The department also plans to extend the service to areas like Kuchlak in future phases. These expansions will allow more residents to access modern transport with ease.
Fleet Growth Strengthens Urban Mobility
The initial operational fleet in Quetta consisted of eight buses. However, the addition of seventeen new buses greatly increases the system’s capacity. The expanded fleet supports growing demand for efficient urban mobility. Authorities believe the improved fleet will encourage more residents to use public transport. The new buses also offer better comfort and reliability than older vehicles.
Quetta Aligns with Modern Transit Standards
This project brings Quetta closer to major Pakistani cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. These cities have already introduced advanced mass transit systems to meet urban needs. The arrival of the Chinese buses reflects a similar shift in Quetta’s transport infrastructure. Officials hope the new system will reduce congestion and enhance the city’s travel experience.
