Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of three special Eid al-Azha trains to facilitate passengers travelling across the country during the upcoming holiday season. The decision was made to reduce travel pressure and provide additional transportation options ahead of one of the busiest periods of the year.
Railway authorities said the special train service aims to help thousands of passengers reach their hometowns safely and conveniently before Eid celebrations begin. Officials expect a sharp increase in passenger traffic during the holiday week as families travel between major cities.
The railway department confirmed that all three Eid special trains will consist entirely of economy class coaches. The move is intended to accommodate a larger number of passengers and provide affordable travel facilities during the festive season.
Three Special Eid Trains to Operate Across Major Cities
According to railway officials, the first Eid special train will depart from Quetta to Karachi on May 23. The service is expected to provide relief to passengers travelling from Balochistan to Sindh ahead of Eid al-Azha.
The second special train will leave Karachi for Rawalpindi on May 24. This route is considered one of the busiest travel corridors during national holidays due to high passenger demand from southern and northern regions.
Authorities also announced that the third Eid special train will depart from Karachi to Lahore at 7 p.m. on May 25. The train is expected to serve a large number of passengers travelling to Punjab for family gatherings and Eid celebrations.
Officials stated that the special services were introduced after reviewing booking trends and expected travel volumes. Advance planning was carried out to avoid overcrowding at railway stations and reduce waiting times for passengers.
Pakistan Railways management said additional staff and operational support would also be arranged to ensure smooth train operations during the Eid period.
Economy Class Coaches Introduced for Maximum Passenger Capacity
Railway authorities confirmed that every coach in the special trains will be allocated under economy class arrangements. Officials said this strategy would maximise seating capacity and allow more citizens to travel at lower ticket prices.
Passengers often face difficulties finding confirmed bookings during Eid holidays because of increased travel demand. The special trains are expected to provide significant relief to travellers unable to secure seats on regular services.
Pakistan Railways has also urged passengers to book tickets early to avoid last-minute inconvenience. Authorities advised citizens to use official booking counters and approved digital platforms for ticket reservations.
Officials added that crowd management measures would remain active at major railway stations including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Quetta. Security personnel and railway staff will monitor passenger movement to maintain order during peak travel hours.
Pakistan Railways Aims to Improve Eid Travel Experience
The launch of Eid special trains reflects ongoing efforts by Pakistan Railways to improve public transport services during national holidays. The department has frequently introduced additional train operations during Eid seasons to manage heavy passenger movement across the country.
Transport experts believe special train operations help reduce pressure on road travel while offering a safer and more economical transportation option for families.
Railway authorities said the department remains committed to facilitating passengers and ensuring comfortable travel arrangements during Eid al-Azha. Officials also promised continuous monitoring of operations to address any unexpected issues during the holiday rush.
The special Eid train initiative is expected to benefit thousands of passengers travelling long distances for family reunions and religious celebrations.
