Pakistan Railways has announced that its luxury saloon coachesโonce reserved exclusively for high-ranking government officialsโare now available for public booking at reduced rates.
In an official statement released on social media, the department confirmed that all luxury saloons can now be booked by the public. Previously, these upscale carriages were only accessible to the Prime Minister, federal ministers, Railway Chairman, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and Inspector Generals of Police (IGs).
The new fare structure includes a charge of Rs600,000 for the Prime Ministerโs Saloon on the Karachi to Lahore route, and Rs150,000 for the Islamabad to Lahore journey. Other saloon coaches are priced at Rs400,000 for Karachi to Lahore and Rs100,000 for Islamabad to Lahore.
Officials stated that these premium coaches are equipped with modern amenities, offering enhanced privacy and a high level of comfort. The saloons will run on key intercity routes, including IslamabadโLahore, KarachiโLahore, LahoreโKarachi, and LahoreโIslamabad.
This decision, made by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi under the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is aimed at expanding access to premium travel options while maximizing the utility of existing rail assets.
In another step toward improving passenger services, Pakistan Railways also revealed plans to install automated teller machines (ATMs) from various commercial banks at major railway stations across the country.
The initiative is intended to provide travelers with convenient access to banking services during their journeys. According to a spokesperson, the installation process is already underway in collaboration with several banks. The rollout will begin at major stations and eventually extend nationwide, increasing ease of access for passengers.
The spokesperson added that these upgrades reflect Pakistan Railwaysโ commitment to enhancing the travel experience by integrating essential services and facilities at railway stations across the country.
